SUMMARY:“FAIR environmental data for EOSC and the World: Engineering the ENVRI-Hub”\, an RDA co-located event
DESCRIPTION:The ENVRI Community is proud to introduce the ‘ENVRI-Hub’ concept and its achievements during this co-located event. The ENVRI-Hub is the central gateway to FAIR environmental data and services the European environmental research infrastructures offer. It offers a community-built platform that combines a service catalogue\, a knowledge base\, information on training resources that support service providers and users\, and a virtual research environment with several initial science demonstrators\, all accessible through a single access interface. Through the ENVRI-Hub\, the ENVRI Community directly contributes to the European Open Science Cloud\, opening up this wealth of data for exploitation to all scientific users\, policymakers\, and private partners.

Participants can expect to find out about new technologies\, products\, services\, and instrumentation and access visibility of opportunities for R&D collaborations. \nWho is it for\nThis workshop is aimed at all industry professionals\, researchers\, and students interested in innovation in atmospheric measurement techniques\, including: \n\nResearch Organizations operating European Research Infrastructure (RI) or interested in RI data and services\nPrivate Companies offering scientific instrumentation or services in the field of atmospheric measurement\nIndustrial End-Users looking for new technologies/services\nAir Quality Networks interested in enhancing their monitoring capacities\nPolicy-makers and other responsible bodies\, interested in enhancing their capacity to inform\, monitor and report on national and international (EU\, UNFCCC) environmental directives\n\nWorkshop Organizers\nThe workshop is hosted by three EU RIs working in the Atmospheric Measurements remit\, ACTRIS\, ICOS and IAGOS\, together with the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (EMME-CARE). It is organized by the Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C) of the Cyprus Institute with the support of the University of Helsinki\, the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz (MPIC)\, the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). \nAbstracts\nThe call for abstracts is now open. DESCRIPTION:From 20-22 September 2023\, the EOSC Symposium will take place in Madrid\, in the context of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The EOSC Symposium is organised by the EOSC Future project\, together with the EOSC Tripartite collaboration (the EOSC Association\, the EOSC Steering Board and the European Commission). \nThis year’s event will be fully hybrid\, facilitating broader exchanges between stakeholders from ministries\, policy makers\, research organisations\, service providers\, research infrastructures and research communities driving the development of – and engagement with – the European Open Science Cloud. In the context of the EOSC Future project\, the EOSC Symposium will also be a critical platform to showcase project achievements and key exploitable results.

DESCRIPTION:RI-URBANS will celebrate its 2nd Science Meeting on October 18-19\, 2023 in Delft (The Netherlands). \nThis event represents the mid-term project meeting and will be focused on the major topics of the project: \n\nOutputs of the 1st reporting period evaluation\nPan-European reports on advanced air quality parameters\nOpen access of compiled data and data flow towards ACTRIS of further measurements\nService tools for 3D measurements\nAnalysis of health outcomes\, city mapping\, citizen involvement\, pollution\, and hotspots.\nFirst results on emission inventories and modelling.\nProgress of the 5 pilots.\nHow ACTRIS/RI-URBAN might support the implementation of the new Air Quality Directive\nProgress of upscaling actions.\nThe case study of upscaling for Warsaw.\n\nAt the same time\, a major goal of the 2nd Science Meeting is to involve air-quality policy stakeholders in the interpretations and discussions of the project results\, as well as pilots and applications of the service tools. \nThe meeting will have a hybrid format: onsite in the Green Village in Delft\, and online via zoom.

DESCRIPTION:Through observations\, ICOS (Integrated Carbon Observation System) aims at increasing the knowledge on how emissions of greenhouse gasses (GHG) are regionally distributed and how the society can reduce its emissions. ICOS measures the atmospheric GHG level and provides independent and reliable carbon observations from the ocean and the land. By signing the agreement ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium)\, Norway has committed to perform measurements that are in concert with the ICOS aims.
