Third Call for Access (closed)

We are pleased to provide access to Europe’s most advanced facilities for observation and exploration in atmospheric science.

If you would like to use ground-based observation stations, atmospheric simulation chambers, mobile facilities or central atmospheric science laboratories, this call presents the opportunity to enhance your existing requirements.

All you need to do is identify an enhancement to your ongoing research, development or innovation activities and interests that could be provided by access to any of our facilities. For example, you might be a manufacturer developing an instrument that needs to be tested, a researcher working with your local authority on a tricky air pollution problem or an Early Career Researcher wanting to test out your new theory or idea. If you think you’d benefit from using our services or working with us on your problem, we can help.

ATMO-ACCESS provides access to 52 of the leading European atmospheric research facilities. A full list can be found at https://www.atmo-access.eu/facilities/ and any of these can be accessed within the current call. In addition, we can provide the option of remote access to services within the infrastructure. Remote access can enable the users to work with the service providers to direct the research without needing to attend the facility.

Access to any of the ATMO-ACCESS facilities is provided for users  with no charges for use of the infrastructure, instrumentation or the expert support. Users may benefit from a contribution to support some of their accommodation and travel costs.

Applications for access within the call are available via the PASS Platform. You will be asked to provide a short proposal outlining what you would like to do, the problem it addresses and how it is linked to your ongoing activities. You will also be asked which funds you can count on for the travels in addition to ATMO-ACCESS’s partial contribution  and how access to the ATMO-ACCESS infrastructure will enable progress that would otherwise have not been possible.

Access for a new and unconventional use of the facilities, which favors an effective combination of the research interest, knowledge, and resources of the user and the facility staff is strongly encouraged.

The application will be reviewed first by the Access Evaluation Panel and final decision will be made by the Strategic TNA Board to ensure competitiveness in TNA allocation.
